I bet by now, you would be dying to know which air purifier is highly recommended.
The truth is, there is no perfect air purifier. You need to know what you need,
the environment you live in and then choose a suitable air purifier from a reputable
retailer or manufacturer.
For example, if you live in an area where there are pollens
and you're allergic to them, a good HEPA/electronic air purifier would be a good choice.
If you live near a light industrial zone where there are gasseous emmission, then a
good activated carbon filter is required
However, I will share with you why I chose SharperImage's ionic purifier.
These the are criterias that I've set for myself when choosing my air purifier:
- it must work! eg. traps allergens and purify the air
- ease of maintenance - cleaning the filters
- affordable - initial purchase + yearly maintenance (eg. electricity
- manufacturer's warranty and reputation
- it must not be noisy
- it must produce negative ions - see negative ions and health
The Ionic Breeze GP and Quadra exceeded those criterias. Both air purifiers
operate silently and continuously, with very low power demands (10W for Quadra and 28W for
GP) In contrast, HEPA base air purifiers can easily consume up to 10 times the power and
it requires regular replacement of costly filters.
Both the GP and Quadra trap airborne irritants, bacteria, allergens, dust and other
contaminants on permanent, stainless steel collection blades.
Costly replacement filters are not required.
The main difference between the GP and the Quadra is that the Ionic Breeze GP
has the added benefit of germicidal protection provided by a built-in Philips
UV Germicidal Sterilamp. This will kill the air-borned viruses. Besides that, the
collection grid on the GP is 20% larger than the Quadra's grid, so trapped particles
cover a larger area and require less frequent cleaning.
Both units are effective at trapping airborne particles ranging in size from .05 to 30 microns
and are ideal for home use. I've 2 units - the GP for my daughter's room and the Quadra for
our room. Both units have won an award from AAFA:
|
Asthma and Allergy Foundation of AmericaŽ Consumer Product Seal awarded to the Ionic BreezeŽ QuadraŽ and GP air purifiers.
"The Ionic Breeze was awarded the AAFA Seal because it's 'proven to reduce airborne allergens and irritants including dust mite allergen, pet dander and cigarette smoke'."

pretty comprehensive and gives you a comparison on the effectiveness and running cost of
ionic breeze and a HEPA filter.
Combined with excellent reputation and 5 year warranty, I gave it 2 thumbs up!
